What a loooooonnnnnggg and busy last few weeks it's been. I already have to stop and apologize for my lack of posting. Between a weekend trip to Arizona, studying for and taking the PSAT, a handful of babysitting jobs, hours and hours (and hours) of homework, and a serious lack of motivation, writing for Sunshine & Storms sort of slipped through the cracks.
My bad.
But I am back, so you can all let out that big sigh of relief right about now.
Anyhoo, today I am figuratively slipping into my favorite pair of leggings and UGGs and grabbing a PSL so I can be a basic white girl while raving over the current season: fall!
Fall is officially in full swing. The leaves have all turned their prettiest shades of red, orange, and yellow and some have even started to fall, collecting in tall piles on the ground that are just begging to be jumped in. Sweaters and boots have been worn and pumpkins and gourds are taking their rightful places in grocery stores everywhere. AND, today was the last day over 70 degrees for the rest of the year.
That deserves an amen right there. Or more accurately, a big ole' "FALLELUJAH!".
(In case you haven't pieced it together from the above paragraphs or my earlier blog post, I adore autumn. ADORE. I truly can't stress that enough. God did good when he chose to make fall.)
Idaho is one of my favorite places anyways, but it gets exceptionally pretty in the fall. It also happens to be one of the best states for fall-type activities. We have apple orchards aplenty (*side note: is "aplenty" one word or two? I can never remember.), corn mazes, beautiful mountains for autumn strolls, and hay fields that are a shame not to photograph.
My family just went apple picking last weekend, bringing home several pounds of apples from a local apple orchard to be made into apple sauce, dried apples, apple crisps (in particular, my own "2 Minute Apple Crisp", blogged about here), and eaten plain. Apple picking is really so much fun. It's much more enjoyable than running out to Walmart to choose apples from a giant cardboard box (even though you do see some interesting people at Walmart...) and you get to stroll around under the pretty apple trees in the crisp fall air.
To be fair, I wasn't just in a hyper-happy mood because of the apple picking. I was also on cloud nine because I had just finished slurping down a Dutch Bros mocha and was on an Anne of Green Gables binge reading session. It was a good fall day.
It got even better when I got home that night, looked over the tasty apples we had picked, and started brainstorming future blog posts I could write involving them. That's right folks, another delicious apple recipe is headed your way sometime this week! Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you won't miss it!
Gosh, I missed blogging so much- even if no one ever reads Sunshine & Storms besides me. I do have a knack for cracking myself up after all. However, I do want readers whose names don't start with "A" and end with "llison" too, so I wouldn't mind if you shared Sunshine & Storms with your friends and family...
Just an idea.
Talk to you all soon!
