A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of."
Luke 6:45
It gives me a lot to think about. What do I talk about? I know that I'm self-depreciating, constantly negative or bickering with my sibling, and I complain, stress, and worry excessively. Even if you take this verse as not just talking about good or bad things, and instead think of it as just talking about what you say is important in your life, I'm still not doing too great. I say God, family, and friends are important to me, yet I talk a lot about thrifting, food, and other unimportant things (okay, but food is pretty dang important).
Anyways, good does not always come from my mouth and it is currently something I need to work on.
The reason I decided to this verse with you today is because about two months ago I found a cute-ified version of it on Pinterest...
The verse became much more real when I went to CIY Move this past week. CIY stands for Christ in youth and it's a week long conference for high school students. It's an incredible experience. I think it is absolutely amazing to be surrounded with people from your church and other churches on the West coast that all share your beliefs and love for Jesus. CIY also has amazing speakers. One lesson that was taught included this verse.
It was actually a pretty cool coincidence. I had just written down Luke 6:45 on a paper that I used to decorate my dorm room and again, in my notebook, when the speaker started reading from Luke. So random!
It got me thinking again about how this is something I need to focus on and how it was something I wanted to show all of my readers!
I hope you all take this week to try and fill your heart with good things and speak about what's important to you! I'll try it myself (and most likely won't do so well, but at least I'm attempting it) and let you know how I'm doing with it in my next blog post!
Bye for now!
