If you look up "Allison" in the dictionary, there will be a little black and white picture of me standing in front of a Goodwill with my passport, Bible, and mocha in hand. That is Allison in a pretty little nutshell.
Thrifting is my kryptonite. Well, it's a tie between that and mochas, but whatever.
It's not so much that I'm addicted to shopping, but I'm addicted to getting a good deal and hunting for amazing finds. Other people play sports or an instrument, or hang out with friends, but me? I go to Goodwill. I sort through rack after rack, shelf after shelf until I find something cool. Then I snatch it and compare what I bought it for to how much it would cost retail. And the difference is always huge.
It's exciting.
Some people are disgusted by thrift stores since everything is used, but who cares? Give it a good wash and you'll never think that it could have once been worn by someone who only bathed twice. Besides, I always find the best things. I have ah-mazing luck at thrift stores. Where else can you buy perfect condition American Eagle jeans in my size for 4$?!
Anyways, I was driving home from dinner on Thursday when I saw it. "GOODWILL" in bright blue lettering. It made me look twice. I could feel my lower lip start to quiver and my eyes popping out of my head. "Must... be... strong...," I whispered to myself.
But I caved. I turned into the parking lot of my favorite thrift store and dove right in.
After half and hour, I had an entire cart of stuff ready for my to buy or try on. Of course, I had to go through the tough process of trying every piece of clothing on and eliminating the ill-fitting clothes... but when I exited the store, I brought home a pair of shoes, two shirts, and two boxes of candy.
Here are some pictures of what I've bought!
One of the things I took home with me last Thursday were this cute pair of black high tops. Converse are extremely popular right now, however, I could not justify spending $50 on a fad, but I had no problem with giving up 5.50 for these beauties. Keep in mind that I'm going to need to wash them before I wear them, but once I do, these black high top Chuck Taylors will be perfect and well-worth the money.
Before you get too disgusted by the fact that I bought food from a thrift store, know that Target donates their unsold items to Goodwill brand new with tags. Since Easter is way over, there were about four carts stuffed with left-over Easter candy and you must understand that I looooooooveeeee Easter candy. Peeps, Cadbury eggs, and those fat Brach's jelly-beans... Oooooohhhh. I adore Easter candies. So for a dollar sixty, I got 30 Peeps. I'm quite pleased.
Well, this was my thrift haul this week! For one of my next posts, I'll show you all how I style my thrifted clothes! Oh, this is exciting me!
If you've ever gone thrifting, what is your favorite thing you've ever thrifted? Any amazing finds?
